About Theta Chi at Michigan State University

Becoming a member of Theta Chi is more than just becoming part of a club. It provides you with the opportunity to be involved with an international brotherhood spanning over 150 years, to refine your personal and social skills, to develop a sense of belonging and fellowship in a college environment, and to jump-start your success after college. It also encourages you to broaden your college experiences through leadership programming, intramural events, academic support, inter-Greek events, regional conferences, and international conventions. Our fraternity’s maxim is “Alma Mater First and Theta Chi for Alma Mater,” and refers to one of the founding ideals of the Fraternity: loyalty to one’s college or university as well as academic achievement. Although the majority of our members are originally from Michigan we also have several brothers from out-of-state and even some from out of the country. We try to exemplify our motto “Theta Chi for life” whether it be with our close connections to our alumni or the lifelong friendships you develop during your tenure at Michigan State.

Philanthropy Event: PowderPuff Football

Each fall the men of Theta Chi host a powderpuff football tournament between many of the sororities on campus. Each sorority is coached by a group of brothers during the weeks leading up to the tournament. Each house involved then makes a donation that goes to Habitat for Humanity. It has proven to be another great way the Greek community works together to lend a helping hand to those in need and have a great time while doing it.
