Philanthropy Event: The Rose McGill Foundation

Kappa members believe that philanthropy or mutual helpfulness is of significant
importance. Awareness of the needs of others is raised by participating in
campus philanthropy events, by quiet moments of companionship with
elementary school students or raising dollars for the Kappa Kappa Gamma
Foundations. Raising money for Kappas in
need around the nation and world each year the Delta Gamma Chapter
participates in the Rose McGill Magazine Agency fundraiser. At 2006 Convention
in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Delta Gamma Chapter won the award for selling the
most magazines through Rose McGill for 2004-2006!! We participate in local campus and community projects in the East
Lansing area. Examples of our local service projects have been volunteering at
local elementary schools and assisting with after school reading programs,
spending time with terminally ill children with Ellie's Place at Sparrow Hospital in
Lansing, Michigan, and donating clothes, books, and other items to local
charities. Every year we collect new and gently used books to donate to the national RIF
organization. Other RIF related projects include making bookmarks and
spending time with local Girl Scouts reading books and discussing the
importance of continuing education.
